Same-Day CEREC Dental Crown Process
Comprehensive Exam and Evaluation
We begin by examining the tooth and taking digital images to determine if a CEREC crown is the right solution. This allows us to assess the damage and plan the restoration with precision.
Tooth Preparation
The damaged or weakened portion of the tooth is gently removed to create space for the crown. We shape the remaining structure so the final restoration will fit securely and comfortably.
Digital Scanning
Instead of traditional impressions, we use advanced digital scanning technology to capture a highly detailed 3D image of your tooth. This ensures an accurate, comfortable fit without messy molds.
Crown Design
Using specialized software, we design your custom crown right in the office. The digital model allows us to match the shape and bite of your natural teeth for a seamless result.
On-Site Milling
The design is sent to our in-office CEREC milling machine, which creates your crown from a solid block of ceramic in about 15–20 minutes.
Fitting and Adjustments
Once the crown is ready, we place it on your tooth to check the fit, bite, and appearance. Small adjustments are made to ensure comfort and a natural look.
Final Placement
After everything looks and feels just right, the crown is securely bonded in place. You leave the same day with a fully restored tooth—no temporary crown and no second appointment needed!
Are CEREC dental crowns as durable as traditional crowns?
CEREC dental crowns are made from strong, high-quality ceramic designed to withstand everyday biting and chewing. They are carefully milled for a precise fit and bonded securely to your tooth, creating a long-lasting restoration. With proper care and routine checkups, a same-day CEREC crown can be just as reliable and durable as a traditional lab-made crown.
When is a same-day crown recommended instead of a filling?
A crown is recommended when a tooth has too much damage or decay for a filling to safely support it. If the remaining tooth structure is weakened, cracked, or heavily restored, a crown provides full coverage and protection. This helps restore strength and function while preventing further damage that a simple filling may not be able to handle.
Is getting a crown painful?
The process of getting a crown is typically very comfortable. We use local anesthesia to numb the area before preparing the tooth, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure. Some mild sensitivity afterward is normal, but it usually fades quickly. Our goal is to make the experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Will my same-day CEREC crown look natural?
Absolutely. CEREC crowns are made from tooth-colored ceramic that closely matches the shade and translucency of your natural teeth. We carefully design and adjust the crown to blend seamlessly with your smile, so most people won’t be able to tell the difference between the crown and your surrounding teeth.
